9 thought trip concepts that I've put up in my room

Okay, so here's some snapshots of the wall in my room
(Like Randy Pausch in the Last Lecture, I've been a big fan of scribbling things on my wall, even until the tender age of 26. And then my mom found out. I had to set up a canvas)

Read some interesting stuff that I've penned down (or pinned up) over the years :)

Okay I'll admit, the title was a click-bait (don't blame me, half of the articles today are). There's only one or probably two thought trippin' concepts in this list. Half of the rest are quotes. Half of the halves are just motivational stuff. Still I have a feeling you'll like reading what people write on their walls.

1. "He's a human being, like you or me, but he's also a force of nature, one who's time is managed down to the second"- a quora answer's verbatim description of Bill Gates.

---

2.  "3 commandments of smartness-

  1. Avoid inattentional blindness: though shall not miss
  2. Contextual background via spacing effect: though shall delve deep
  3. Embrace cognitive dissonance: though shall challenge"
---

3. "Successful people have superior vocabularies"

---

4. "Tragic Optimism

Optimism Triad
  1. Pain: Turning suffering into a human achievement
  2. Guilt: Deriving from guilt, the opportunity to change oneself for the better
  3. Death: Deriving from life's transitoriness, the incentive to take responsible action
Optimism, like optimism cannot be pursued. It has to ensue. One must have a reason"
---

5. "Otaku"

---

6. "???

  • Hard work can and will lead to improvement
  • Where we belong, is a place where we can thrive
  • What we are doing is valuable and relevant to our goals
    • Be kind to yourself

      • Growth vs fixed mindset
      • Patience while prowess
      • Never, "This ain't for me"

    • Find a community

      • Find your tribe

    • Think about your future self

      • Future self aligned to your goals
      • Related short term/weekly goals"
---

7.  "Moral reasoning

Moral reasoning of two types

  1. Consequentialist: locates morality in the consequences of the act
  2. Categorical: locates morality in certain duties and rights

Examples:

  • Example 1: You're a train driver, 5 people wrongly on the track, and you can see only way to save them is go into the fields and kill 1 person in the fields (who is not wrong in his act of being on the field).
  • Example 2: You're an onlooker of this situation from a bridge above. And you can stop the train by pushing a very fat person off the bridge. Saving the 5 people.
  • Example 3: You're a doctor. 5 people are in urgent need of transplants of a heart, kidney, liver etc. else they'll die. 1 person (who's come for a health check up) is sleeping in the other room. Will you do what we're implying here?"
---

8. "Transportable skills

  • Do you know how to solve problem?
  • Are you a persuasive communicator?
  • Do you know how to take intelligent risks?
  • Do you know how to get things done?
  • Are you a talent magnet?
  • Can you give and ask for help?"
---

9. "Wabi Sabi"

***
It would've been a hell lot easier for y'all if I'd written the meanings and what I loved about them. But that wouldn't have generated this intrigue in you, would it?
Let's discuss in comments.

P.S.: all the above are collated information from various sources, and I will keep adding as and when I remember where I noted these from.
